Another product of my design/build work, this home is located on a mountain side overlooking the entire region. The great room form sits extended beyond, and on top of an organizing wall, face to face with the valley view. Traditional gabled residential forms are collected along the organizing wall oriented parallel to the hillside contours. The manipulation of the forms responds to view and sunlight. In particular, the "beak" form provides view from spaces at the rear of the house. Detailing and the arrangement of penetrations is simple and formal. This same formal vocabulary is repeated with the interior detailing providing reserved order to a large home with expansive spaces.
